TuesdayResearch Data Management: A Crash Course
Digitization is changing day-to-day research practices across all fields of academic inquiry. Research data of every kind are collected, processed, analyzed, published and archived in digital systems. The term Research Data Management (RDM) refers to a range of activities and topics relating to the handling of digital research data. In this workshop, you will learn about the basics of RDM. Effective RDM is a crucial part of modern scientific practice. It involves organizing, storing, and preserving data collected during research projects to ensure data quality, security, accessibility, and compliance with legal and ethical standards. Proper RDM supports transparency, reproducibility, and long-term usability of research results, enabling researchers to collaborate more efficiently and build on existing knowledge. Except for microphone and webcam, no technical equipment or prior knowledge is required for this online workshop.

Eckdaten: 15.–16.10.2026, jeweils 09:00–16:30 Uhr | Anmeldephase: 02.09.–27.09.2026

TuesdayThrough the data protection jungle
A joint workshop by the Core Facility Research Data Management at UKB (CF RDM) and the Research Data Service Center (RDSC) for researchers at the University of Bonn, UKB and other NRW Universities for Tag der Forschungsdaten. Through the data protection jungle: Your first aid kit to legal basics, consent forms and anonymisation techniques - Navigating data protection in research can feel like entering a dense jungle of legal rules, consent requirements and technical challenges. This workshop equips early career researchers with a practical first aid kit for handling personal and sensitive research data responsibly. This workshop can be attended online or in person at either Poppelsdorf or Venusberg campus. The workshop consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. Online participants can attend the theoretical part, only, while participants attending in person at either location can participate in both parts.
